Human Platelet Lysate(hPL) is a cell culture growth supplement derived from human platelet. hPL is growth factor-rich necessary for cell growth and proliferation. hPL can be used as substitute for fetal bovine serum (FBS). Multiple donor unit are pooled to minimize variability.

Storage & handling

If not use immediately, aliquot and store at -20° C or below. Store at -80°C for long term storage. It is recommended to avoid freeze-thaw cycles as this can lead to lower the effectiveness of supplement for cell culture.

Shelf Life

Donors have been tested and non-reactive to Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, Sifilis with ChLIA (Chemiluminescence Immunoassay) & NAT (Nucleic Acid Testing) method.

Direction For Use

  • Thaw Human Platelet Lysate in 4°C (refrigerator temperature) overnight. If the product is not completely thawed or partially remains frozen, continue incubation at room temperature or alternatively, use a 37°C water bath until completely thawed. Once fully thawed, do not leave the hPL at room temperature or water bath for an extended period.
  • Note: The product may exhibit a cloudy appearance or contain flocculent material after thawing. This does not affect product quality. Avoid pipetting the flocculent material.
  • Add hPL to cell culture medium (complete medium) at final concentration of 10%. Optimal concentration must be determined for each cell type, cell line, and/or application.
  • Complete culture medium can be stored at 4oC and is stable for approximately 2 week.
  • Note: Filter sterilization of the complete medium containing Human Platelet Lysate (HPL) may be carried out using a 0.2–0.22 μm low protein-binding polyethersulfone (PES) filter unit. It is recommended that this filteration step be performed just prior to use of complete medium.
